I wasn't sure where to start so maybe someone can tell me where to post this. My explanation is a little simplistic but enough so that maybe I can get some help.
Our small book company got an idea for a toy a couple of years ago. We found a manufacturer who agreed to create it at his cost and we handle sales. We brought it to market in six months. We use Advantage and a couple of other sales and marketing groups to get it into stores around the U.S. It is a popular product and wherever we've taken it, they've loved it. Michael's and Borders are some of our clients - just to mention a few.
The original manufacturer went back on a couple of deals. He refused to have inventory and whenever we placed an order for someone, he took six weeks to get their orders to them. There were a couple of other problems , and since he went back on the contract agreement, we went with another manufacturer.
We had high hopes because they said all the right things (like manufacturing at a lower cost) but it's only been problem after problem. They want big orders of 100k or more at a time, but companies want to try it first so the orders start at 10k-30k. Wherever this item has been sold, they sell out right away. This manufacturer is also taking its time about filling orders and we've lost orders and clients because they take too long and other reasons. And they hold up our pay for sales and royalties. My husband hasn't been paid yet this year and he is the director of sales.
We need a good manufacturer. This is a good product and it's flying off the shelves. We've already been burned twice. How do I find a company who will do what they claim?
