Hi All,
Just spotted a link to the toylandmovie.com site. Sounds really interesting so I will get myself a copy, review and let you know if it worth the money, unless of course anyone here on the forum has a seen it already???
Site says..."Toyland is a never-before-seen look at a place where fun is born and competition is fierce: The $22 billion dollar toy business. Perform a song that sells a million copies and you're awarded a platinum record and the cover of Rolling Stone. Design a toy that sells 300 million copies and you're unknown... until now. Meet the people behind the biggest playthings in history including Slinky, Play-Doh, Ant Farm, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Mouse Trap, Nerf, Twister, Toss Across, Kerplunk and more. Follow the ups and downs of game designer, Tim Walsh as he tries to take his own invention to market, with nerve-racking pitches to Hasbro, Spin Master Toys and others along the way. Welcome to Toyland."
You can get a copy for $19 US
Cheers

Hi All,
Well I have now watched the Toyland movie. To summarise it basically follows the pitches of a private inventor trying to launch his "Chin" characters. He takes it to Hasbro and a couple of other companies. The final stages at the NY toy fair show that a company took it on. Not sure how popular it has been though. The film also covers interviews with the inventors of the slinky, operation, chattering teeth, Twister and Rock em Robots. As a toy inventor I would say it is definitely worth a look if not only for the 'pitch' scenes but also to get an insight into the industry for many well known faces. After all its always good to name drop as and when you can!
Cheers for now, Inventoy.

Be interested to know if anyone else has seen this film yet and what their feedback was of it. I spotted the main man Tim on Linked in so may even be able to get the man himself to join the forums.
Cheers, Inventoy

"Inventing the Abbotts'' is a film that seems to have been made in a time machine. Not only the picture's story but also its values and style are inspired by the 1950s. It's like a subtler, more class-conscious "Peyton Place,'' and if the same movie had been made 40 years ago with Natalie Wood, Sandra Dee, Troy Donahue and Ricky Nelson, it could have used more or less the same screenplay
