Spin Master toys was started by a couple of lone inventors just like some of us. They now have a great business producing lots of great radio controlled toys and other great stuff.
They have an inventiors section on their web site and you can submit ideas via an online form.
Cheers,
Inventoy

I like Spin Master, we have presented to the two Ben's a few times now, and its always fun! Never placed anything yet with them, but will keep trying! I make appointments with them at the UK, NY and Dallas toy fairs, not visited them yet in Canada. Anyway, I have found them very inventor friendly. I submitted a design proposal to Lyndsay at Spinmaster, and despite taking some time, I did eventually receive a response.
I was informed that Spinmaster didn't have the resources to go forward with my proposal, but was given a positive response to my design and offered the ability to ask for advice if required, which I found very polite.
Hopefully I can get an agent to deal with my product, as Spinmaster were pretty much one of the only Companies I could find who were genuinly happy to deal directly with inventors.

Hi Ash,
Thanks for the info on spinmaster. Can you give some more detail about your toy as we may be able to recommend other companies to try ie, is it a remote controlled model? before you go down the agent route.
Cheers,
Inventoy.

Inventoy is right in my opinion (and experience), agents have not placed anything for us, we had to go out to the States and do it ourselves, it is possible. There are inventor friendly companies around like Spinmaster, you just have to look for them and find one that's fits where your toy concepts sector is, and that you feel happy with presenting to. Yeah, Spinmaster are really good at coming back to you and offering help where needed. Lyndsay is a really helpful person and very polite. I've dealt with them, although nothing placed as yet, and found them the best so far at dealing with inventors.

Hi Inventoy, my product is a pocket sized playground toy, uni-sex and appealing to the age-range of around 8-14. It's expandable and available in slightly varying styles (visually). I've had prototype quotes from a few design companies who thought it was a good concept (I bet they say that to all the girls & boys...!) although it's nice to hear that now and again I've only approached Spinmaster at present, as I'm wary of using an agent - primarily through fear from being ripped off... I am legally qualified, and briefly worked in Intellectual Property, but even with that I still think it's too easy to get scammed. Also, does anyone know if Spinmaster do wish-lists? I'm sure they must have something in place for the inventors they have on their books, but perhaps someone has seen a public list from them before? All the best Ash

Hi Ash,
I have not heard of a wish list from Spin master as yet. Toy maker here on the forums may know??? Have you tried Aerobie, Vivid Imaginations or Fundex? I will try and dig out some contact details for you. May also be worth checking out toydirectory.com and seeing if there are any companies on there who make something similar. Wicked Vision are another but they don't like to reply very frequently. I met them at the London toy fair this year (nice bunch). Let us know how you get on.
Cheers

Hi Ash, I have not heard of a wish list from Spin master as yet. Toy maker here on the forums may know??? We get wish lists from SpinMaster, Mattel etc but they only send them out to toy inventors (they like) that have a good track record. Probably toy agents may also receive them. These wish lists need to be very confidential, as it shows where these toy manufacturers want to go in the following year. This is why they are so selective. Thanks for that Toymaker at least we now know why you never see published wish lists. If I were Ash I would approach companies making 'like products' and see at the same time if they had any particular areas of interest for the forthcoming year. Quite often toy companies will at least give you a hint of what they are after. KidsInc for example were looking for sports related or outdoor sports type toys when i contacted them last year. Their focus may well have changed now though but it is always worth asking.

Inventoy, thanks for the suggestions; been off the boil recently due to other commitments, but will consider sending a proposal to those companies.

Have you tried Aerobie, Vivid Imaginations or Fundex? I will try and dig out some contact details for you. Fundex was the only relevant company to my product, so tried them a few weeks ago - sent off their standard form further to some email correspondence, and now waiting for a reply. Wicked Vision are another but they don't like to reply very frequently. Contacted but no reply Will update when I hear something back.

Hi Ash,
good luck with Fundex. I have had replies but they can take a while. The other two which may be worth a try are Duncan (yo yo/skill toys manufacturer) and Wicked Vision. I spoke with their MD at last years London toy fair and they are always happy to talk with new inventors.
Give em a go.
Cheers,
Inventoy
