I have an idea for a new construction / building block toy. Is it worth investing in prototypes or do I just try and go for licensing to a manufacturer based on the 3d cad renderings I have already? (free as I done these myself)
So far I have been quoted £600 for professional cad drawings and a matter of pence for each block component and connectors to be prototyped by a british owned proto company in China.
Be interested to hear our views.

Always a good idea to have a prototype, especially if it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg as you say. In my experience you get to see where the concept can be improved on or where problems may occur when you have the actual item in your hand, something that's hard to do from drawings.
