You you are new to toy inventing but have done a lot of searching or made enquires to toy companies then chances are you have heard the term NDA at some stage. NDA stands for Non Disclosure Agreement. This is a basic form of protection both for the company reviewing an inventors ideas and for the inventor. The agreement will normally state that the company will not disclose any of the info shown to them to others (normally for a set time period ie 10 years). Signatures are required by both parties, normally someone in the company such as a invetor relations officer or new products manager. The NDA will have the name of the invention and a "brief" description of the product.
Some companies don't require NDAs but I think they are a good and free way of getting a small bit of legal protection.
NDAs are sometime referred to as Mutual Non Disclosure or Confidentiality Agreements.
